Silica - 2LG x William & Co

The Silica light, showcased in the corner of the 2LG Studio's Dream Pink Bathroom and featured in the 2LG Studio's Design House and Harper's Bazaar, emerged from a unique collaboration driven by modern technology.

The collaboration stemmed from the 2LG Studio's quest to design a light for their Dream Pink Bathroom, dissatisfied with available options. Inspired by the work of designers Sarah Colson and William & Co, the studio reached out for their expertise.

During their first meeting, the design collective explored crystalline structures, drawing on childhood memories, pop culture references, and geological formations. The discussion delved into the geological materials they often work with, such as glass and porcelain, leading to imaginative iterations of lighting solutions.

The outcome resulted in a fusion of glass and porcelain components, each playing with the concept of fragility and masculinity. Porcelain chains adorn, glass rods emit light, and porcelain casing houses the electrics, embodying strength yet vulnerability. This interplay of materials reimagines light as a functional yet desirable object, exploring its interaction with space and communication.
